Glossop-based not for profit record label 3 Alveston Place has released a new EP from The Bridesmaid, the one man solo project of label owner JJ Saddington.
And Come On People Now, Smile On Your Brother, which was released on March 31, is available on digital, CD and cassette, with all formats being offered for free worldwide.
Speaking on the release, Saddington commented: “Yes. It’s free. Digital, CD, cassette? All on the house (inc. P&P).
“In the 90s, CDs often came with a free-postcard addressed to 3 Alveston Place, Leamington Spa inside the case.
“Returning the card with your name and home address filled out added you to the band’s postal mailing list.
“Results varied from artist to artist but this usually meant a promotional postcard through your door ahead of a new single or album – a handy heads-up in largely pre-Internet times and an affordable (free) bit of band paraphernalia.
“In an age of strangled social media reach and artificial scarcity, the mailing list is, once again, king. Be it digital or snail mail.
“3 Alveston Place thinks the people still deserve prizes, free of charge. Whether that’s digital or physical products. Just don’t ask how we pay for it.”
Come On People Now, Smile On Your Brother’s three tracks draw from The Bridesmaid’s admiration for early grunge and post rock.
3 Alveston Place intends to bring The Bridesmaid’s plethora of recorded material to the public this year, and all releases from the UK label will be free of charge.
