Dominion Festival has announced that fast rising London metal crew Green Lung, County Durham act Liminal and Newcastle crossover newcomers Equitum will be appearing at the three day-event in May.

Taking place from May 5-7, 2023 at Ushaw Historic House, Chapel and Gardens in County Durham, the event is North East England’s first open air metal and rock festival.

Green Lung, Liminal and Equitum will join a host of metal bands on the bill, including headliners Blind Guardian, Orange Goblin and Skindred, NWOBHM veterans Satan and Diamond Head, German thrash pioneers Sodom and Scottish speed metallers Hellripper.

Londoners Green Lung have gained a formidable following since the release of 2021’s Black Harvest, and were a major draw at 2022’s Damnation Festival.

Influenced by folk horror, proto-metal and doom, the quintet recently supported Clutch on their UK tour and signed to Nuclear Blast in the autumn.

Metallized hardcore outfit Liminal – who released their debut EP, A New Perspective, in January – bagged their place on the bill after claiming first spot at the Dominion Festival Battle Of The Bands Final.

Held at Newcastle’s Anarchy Brewery on April 1, the showdown also featured Durham-based beatdown crew Swarms, North East punks Last Case Scenario and heavy rock/metal quartet The Distorted, who had made it through a 16 band-strong competition to make it to the final.

Dominion Festival will feature UK exclusive appearances from Californian heavy metal legends Cirith Ungol, Salt Lake City NWOTHM trailblazers Visigoth and Swedish heavy rockers Lucifer, plus a European exclusive from Chicago’s High Spirits.

The festival aboasts a strong NWOBHM contingent, with Tygers Of Pan Tang, Spartan Warrior, Girlschool and White Spirit appearing alongside Satan and Diamond Head.

And Abaddon, formerly of Venom and Venom Inc., will be taking to the Dominion stage too.

The full line-up also includes Twilight Force, Seven Sisters, Fellowship, Night Demon, Naut, Riot City, Kilonova, Atlantean Kodex, Saor, Telepathy, Dawn Ray’d, Calligram, Mars Red Sky, Twister, Crowley, Timechild, Raging Speed Horn, Asomvel, Skarlett Riot, Muddi Brooke, Street Soldier and Rituals.
