A host of rock and metal acts have joined the Dominion Festival 2023 line up.

Taking place from May 5-7, 2023 at Ushaw Historic House, Chapel and Gardens, the event is North East England’s first open air metal and rock festival.

Girlschool – who were due to appear last year before Dominion was rescheduled to 2023 – have now been announced for May’s three-day event. They will be part of a strong NWOBHM contingent at Dominion Festival, which includes Diamond Head, Satan, Spartan Warrior, Abaddon and White Spirit – once home to Iron Maiden’s Janick Gers.

Ramping up the power metal levels will be Sweden’s Twilight Force, who released their fourth opus, At The Heart Of Wintervale, this month, and are currently on a major European tour.

And French stoner rockers Mars Red Sky, Bristolian goth/post punk troupe Naut (pictured top) and Essex ‘cinematic sludge’ quartet Telepathy were also announced for the Dominion Festival 2023 line up today.

Headlined by Blind Guardian, Orange Goblin and Skindred, the festival will see bands from a wide range of rock and metal genres converge on County Durham.

There will be UK-exclusive appearances from Swedish heavy rockers Lucifer, German thrash legends Sodom, Salt Lake City metallers Visigoth and trad metal titans Cirith Ungol, plus sets from emerging British artists such as Crowley, Kilonova and Rituals.

As well as Visigoth, NWOTHM fans will be able to check out Riot City, Night Demon and Seven Sisters, while black metal from Saor, Dawn Ray’d and Calligram be darkening Durham’s skies over the weekend.

Other bands announced for Dominion include Power Quest, High Spirits, Hellripper, Street Soldier, Raging Speedhorn, Twister, Muddibrooke, Skarlett Riot, Timechild, Asomvel and Atlantean Kodex.

And more acts are set to be added to the bill.
