Australian metalcore band Thornhill have shared their brand new single Coven, out via UNFD.

It’s the band’s first taste of music since they put out the Butterfly EP in February 2018, who are getting ready to make their debut national headline tour.

Coven is a track that’s about taking back control, and it allows a little glimpse into the emotions that lead vocalist Jacob Charlton goes through before every show.

“We tend to feed anxiety with fear and I think this song is about my constant battle with it before playing a show, releasing new music or meeting new people.

“Coven is about identifying anxiety and realising how much control it can have over your life. I think it’ll be a reminder every time we play it live that it’s all in my head,” he explained.

Thornhill started out in high school and have since gone on to support some of the best in the business, including Northlane, Parkway Drive, In Hearts Wake, Make Them Suffer, Polaris, The Plot In You and Architects.

2019 will see the band do more of their own stuff and the band are set to embark on their largest headline tour and will release more music towards the end of the year.

Those new tunes will move Thornhill on from Butterfly and some of the music will feature a sleeker sound as well as a different infusions of genres.

“Our new music is definitely a progression from Butterfly,” explains guitarist Ethan McCann.

“There are some songs that are a refined take on our current sound accompanied by an array of new genres/instruments as we never want to get too comfortable in one place. I think we left ourselves fairly open to exploring some different avenues while not straying away from previous releases.”

Thornhill don’t want to be pigeon holed, they want to surprise with every song they do. That’s compelling and it points towards some exciting times from this band.
