All this month Quireboys‘ guitarist Paul Guerin has been charting the band’s 30th anniversary trek across North America…and there’s still much more to come.
Today sees PG look back on an eventful Houston show – to check out where you can catch the band next click on the link below.
I know this might sound a bit daft but bear with me…
…we all take it for granted in this modern age that when we are flying here and there we often have to put our watches back or forward an hour or two but applying the same procedure when you’re driving feels very weird.
What it boils down to is I can stand on a particular spot on the journey where my left leg is at 1pm and my right is at 2pm proving the point that Dr Who and myself do have something in common after all. We are both time travellers.
Acadia in Houston was a very cool club – big old room, pitchers of beer, people smoking, über friendly staff and best of all a big stage. Our new friends Delacoma were opening up for us again – we last saw them in Vegas and since then they have recorded their new album so good luck with that chaps!
The show was another belter. There was a couple of fellas there who I later found out had driven eight hours to see the show and they were shouting for Whipping Boy so we happily obliged.
I love talking to the fans after the show and hearing their stories how they first heard the band and in what circumstances. It’s like when I’m watching people in the crowd singing the words I wrote back home in my kitchen – it still blows me away and it’s great how the new songs are becoming as cherished as the old ones…warms the cockles of your heart.
Some people had seen the Quireboys in this very venue 20 years ago when the band last played there so I thank you all for your loyalty and patience.
Next stop on our tour was Oklahoma City with Faster Pussycat. We headed there not sure if they were gonna make it as Taime (Downe, singer) had been in hospital with an abscess on his tooth (been there…not pleasant).
Toodalooo 🙂
