donwload 2014It’s that time of the year when we turn the spotlight on the bands you simply can’t afford to miss at this year’s typically eclectic 2014 Download Festival.

As usual RUSHONROCK will be on site for the full three days bringing you the very best news and reviews from the UK’s biggest and best rock and metal fest.

And to get you in the mood we’ll be pointing you in the direction of the cream of the crop – with peerless rock n roll heroes The Answer next up.

Band: The Answer

When: Friday June 13 15:50-16:30

Where: The Zippo Encore Stage

Who: The best rock n roll band that’s never made it big. Ulster’s finest pack a phenomenal punch live with frontman Cormac Neeson rivalling Rival Sons’ Jay Buchanan for charisma, way-out moves and a stunning set of pipes. Supported AC/DC across the globe on their Black Ice world tour – it should have opened the door to superstardom but the world’s loss is the Zippo Encore Stage’s gain.

Why: If you’ve never seen The Answer you’ve never seen a simply awesome quartet capable of channelling the coolest sounds of the 70s, the swagger of the 80s, the survival instinct of the 90s and the celebration of the noughties. Basically they’ve got it all. And they’ve got it all for you for 40 minutes this weekend. Beware: it’ll be over in a flash.

Listen out for: Spectacular from 2013’s New Horizon – maybe even the new Samba version?

Fact or fiction? Neeson owns every pair of brown corduroy trousers in Northern Ireland.

What we said: ‘Neeson possesses a pair of the finest lungs in rock music, lead guitarist Paul Mahon is a fine, if understated, talent while the rhythm section of bassist Micky Waters and drummer James Heatley provides a platform built on girders.’ Review of The Answer’s October 2013 Newcastle O2 Academy show.
