Quireboys 2011As they prepare to set sail on the US-based Monsters Of Rock cruise – alongside Cinderella, Saxon, Queensryche, Lita Ford and more – the Quireboys have confirmed plans for their new album.

RUSHONROCK understands Spike and the band will enter the studio at the start of next month for two weeks.

And their first album of original material in five years will be produced by Grammy-nominated Chris Tsangarides.

The Quireboys are playing two sets on next week’s Monsters Of Rock cruise – the week-long soft rock party that sets sail from Florida on Saturday.

They will then head straight to Tsangarides’ south coast base to begin work on the follow-up to 2008’s Homewreckers And Heartbreakers.

And a source revealed: “At that point it will be all hands to the pumps as they have two weeks with Chris but that period includes a few shows.

“The lads are also out on tour with Saxon in April so they’re keen to get everything done and dusted before hooking up with Biff and the boys.”

The Quireboys played two critically acclaimed sets at Download last summer and went on to open up for old buddy Axl Rose on the European leg of Guns N Roses’ Chinese Democracy tour.

The band recorded anthemic charity single Biking For Bobby in support of The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer – Spike appearing in front of 50,000 fans to promote the song at the St James’s Park home of Premier League football club Newcastle United.

But it appears 2013 will be an even bigger year for a band with a slew of new songs and new management.
