Legendary Saxon frontman Biff Byford caught up with rushonrock this week ahead of the band’s return to Tyneside next month. And Barnsley’s finest was gushing in his praise of new kids on the block Airbourne.
The flash Aussies play Newcastle a couple of weeks after Saxon hit the Academy with fellow British heavyweights Motorhead. And big Biff reckons you’d be bonkers to miss either show after confessing he’s a huge fan of one of rock’s hottest new acts.
“I’ve seen a few bands on the festival circuit this year but out of all of them Airbourne really stood out,” said Byford. “In fact we liked them so much that we ended up partying withy them a couple of times and I can’t wait to see them again.
“They’re like a fast and furious AC/DC and they really know how to play. In fact they remind me of us when Saxon were a bunch of crazy kids. They’ve got a great attitude and they just want to rock. I like them a lot.”
Saxon hit Newcastle’s Carling Academy in support of Motorhead on November 7. The band’s new single, Live To Rock, is available as a download now and check out rushonrock soon for a full interview with NWOBHM legend Byford.
