Know Thyself

Lyoness backstory

Hertfordshire duo Lyoness is the alt rock brainchild of Steph Carter (Gallows, The Ghost Riders In The Sky) and Gigi Gold (The Ghost Riders In The Sky).

Debut EP Fool’s Gold has already spawned three urgent and thought-provoking singles.

And new tune Know Thyself perfectly showcases the brooding, darkly affecting songwriting at the heart of this creatively ambitious collaboration.

Regular plays on BBC Radio 1 and Kerrang! Radio have served to grow an ever-expanding fan base.

And Lyoness is on a mission to redefine rock and shatter preconceptions.

Blending on-trend indie sass with understated folk-rock twists and Carter’s trademark punk attitude, theirs is a sound unlike any other.

Tattooed beat messiahs Carter and Gold could speak for a generation…given the chance.

And Fool’s Gold lays the foundation for their message to the masses.

In Lyoness’s own words:

Know Thyself is a song about power and influence and the inevitable impact status has on truth.

“It fits in with the theme of the Fool’s Gold EP.

“As a body of work it’s a dark and intimate dive into the individual experience of being human.

“Honest stories of loss, love, secrets, pain and growth are at the heart of Fool’s Gold.”

The verdict on Know Thyself

Gigi Gold’s haunting vocal drives a deliciously foreboding snapshot of Lyoness’s powerful potential.

Know Thyself’s pounding bass lines and angular riffs slice through genres to create a melting pot of proto rock.

And the intoxicating layers of light and shade make for another magical trip within the expansive boundary that is Fool’s Gold.

Gold and Steph Carter ooze chemistry on Lyoness’s latest release and a striking video portrays the former as a fearsome anti-diva.

A glorious Ghost-esque mid-song transformation allies arresting visuals to a visceral vocal.

And Gold glitters from start to finish in one of the performances of her life.

Know Thyself knows its limits. There are none.

What’s next for Lyoness
