Since the release of their 2016 debut album, Ride The Storm, Good Friend have been on an upward trajectory. The Irish tree-piece have fully embedded themselves within the global punk scene, building particularly strong fanbases in Germany and the USA.

2020 was set to be a huge year for Good Friend, who had an incredible run of festivals lined up, and an April tour with Red City Radio. Like so many other bands, the festivals were cancelled and their tour re-scheduled, as ‘GOOD FRIEND DO NOT CANCEL TOURS!’

Listening to the old punkoramas and warped tour records got me into so many bands and this is the perfect comp to follow in that legacy.

Makewar – Get it Together

South American via Brooklyn, New York Makewar release genre hopping, multi lingual call to arms with Get it Together. Their first release on Fat Wreck.

Alkaline Trio – EP

OK its not an album but it deserves its place on this list as a magnificent return to form for the Chicago trio. 

Kali Masi – Wind Instrument

Through one of the most beautiful moustaches in punk comes a blend of late 90s melodic hardcore, 00s emo and rounded off with some good old gritty rock and roll. One to watch. 

The Bombpops – Death in Venice

Dark introspective lyrics, bright hopeful music filled jam packed with pop punk hooks. This band are only getting better and better with every release. 

The Menzingers – Hello Exile

The Philadelphia quartet are quickly becoming the new Kings of storytelling and are currently on a creative hot streak that sounds an awful lot like hello exile is preparing them for filling stadiums. Just listen to that drum sound.

Red City Radio – Sky Tigers EP

Oklahomas own RCR deliver a mission statement that they are about to take a fantastic band to the next level. Leave your lungs on the beer soaked venue floor anthems. Time in quarantine we’ll spent.
