The Delta Saints – Bones (earMUSIC)

Genre: Classic Rock/Southern Rock/Blues Rock

Occupying a snug little space somewhere between Rival Sons and Vintage Trouble, the heavenly Delta Saints look set to quench the thirst for all things classic rock and roll in 2015.

Bones is a slight departure from the Nashville band’s bluesier debut and it’s all the better for it. There’s a renewed optimism, clear enthusiasm and sense of purpose underpinning 10 exquisitely affecting tracks with vocalist Ben Ringel mustering the authenticity and aplomb of blues/soul legends twice his age.

Successfully managing to mould a new-found maturity to their raw, swamp rock blueprint, it’s little surprise Bones is the band’s first major label release. Theirs is a sound that could dominate the airwaves given the right exposure and the odd lucky break.

Opener Sometimes I Worry benefits from a killer intro. but Heavy Hammer is the pick of the bunch. It’s a hard hitting, ass-kicking, injection of angular blues rock that serves as a wake-up call to aspiring peers. Simon Rushworth
