Treat backstory
Formed in Stockholm, Treat were at the forefront of Scandinavia’s 80s melodic rock assault.
Riding the crest of the hair metal wave alongside the likes of Europe and Pretty Maids, their trademark AOR paced three Mercury Records classics in the space of three years.
1987’s Dreamhunter featured MTV hit World Of Pomises and bagged the band a spot on the following year’s Monsters Of Rock tour.
By the mid 90s Treat was on hiatus but a 2006 reunion saw the band reconnect with fans across Europe and Japan.
Upcoming album The Wild Card marks their fifth album since the reunion with the core of the band still firing on all cylinders.
Robert Ernlund (vocals), Anders Wikström (guitar), Patrick Appelgren (keyboards), Jamie Borger (drums), and Nalley Pahlsson (bass) look set to tour with Treat throughout 2026.
In Treat guitarist Anders Wilkström’s own words
“On one hand, it’s about losing a dear one and reflecting over your moments together. “But also, a celebration of life and purpose.
“In the big picture, we only have one minute to breathe.
“So make it count and find what really matters.”
The verdict on One Minute To Breathe
Polished pop metal doesn’t come any shinier than Treat at their sparkling best and this earworm of an AOR anthem is iridescent in its invention.
One More Minute To Breathe is like inhaling pure, unfiltered joy as Sweden’s original — and some might day best — purveyors of melodic rock embrace their Indian Summer with purpose.
Veteran frontman Robert Ernlund revels in the opportunity to put his gold-plated reputation on the line.
But keysman Patrick Appelgren’s the undisputed star of the show — he’s the oxygen fuelling One More Minute To Breathe’s best melodic flourishes.
Nothing’s left to chance as producer Peter Månsson fuses this storied band’s glittering past with an urgent present.
So are fans of stylish Scandi rock in for a Treat? Silly question.
What’s next for Treat?
New album The Wild Card is released by Frontiers Music on November 21.
Treat has announced a slew of summer 2026 festival dates with more to follow.
