Metallica are returning to Denmark’s Roskilde Festival for the first time in 10 years.
Taking a break from the recording of their next album, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammet and Robert Trujillo will headline the Orange Stage with an exclusive European show for the 2013 festival season.
“We listen to our audience and this year they have been shouting for a large name to complete our high-quality, forward-thinking, broad music programme,” said director of Music & Creation Rikke Øxner. “Very few names of this kind are on tour,so we have had to think outside the box and are obviously thrilled to welcome back Lars Ulrich and his crew much earlier than expected.”
Metallica first played Roskilde in 1986 – the year their Copenhagen-recorded Master of Puppets was released. This year, they interrupt the recording of their 12th studio album to play Roskilde Festival once again.
They join Queens Of The Stone Age, Airbourne, Slipknot and Volbeat in adding the noise to this year’s eclectic festival from June 29 to July 7. Go to www.roskilde-festival.dk for details.
