Serpico frontman Mikey (Serpico ! ) has promised North East fans a full on rock assault when the band makes its Whitley Bay debut later this summer.
And we can expect nothing less than a fully professional blowout from the Scots noiseniks with the hard-gigging fivepiece well aware of the pitfalls facing young bands out on the road. “We’ve supported the likes of Aiden, Kill Hannah, Stone Gods, Wednesday 13 and Black Stone Cherry over the last couple of years,” Mikey told rushonrock.
“And we’ve learned just as many good lessons as bad. I know the Black Stone Cherry boys get some stick for not drinking but that’s cool with me. I hardly have a beer before a show or when we’re out on tour because the next thing you know your throat’s gone and you’re standing in front of a load of fans barely able to sing a note. It happened to me in Amsterdam – but the crowd actually liked it…”
Unlike that dopey Dutch crowd what Serpico’s Whitley fans will see is the real deal when The Trojan Rooms hosts the Border raiders on June 8. And a week earlier thier long awaited debut album Neon Wasteland hits stores after more than a year in the making.
Read all about that arduous recording process and more when we run a full interview with the man Mikey later this month.
