Scarlet Rebels backstory
The Llanelli quintet burst onto the NWOCR scene in 2018: an addictive mix of anthemic bangers and politicised messaging striking a chord with working class rockers nationwide.
Dizzying debut Show Your Colours captured the raw emotion at the heart of a band determined to shake things up.
But it was 2022’s top seven UK album See Through Blue that saw Wayne Doyle and co. make the jump from wannabes to serious contenders.
The Rebels’ support of food banks and charities reflects an ongoing commitment to encouraging positive social change.
And 100 preview copies of new album Where The Colours Meet were distributed to charity shops across the UK earlier this year.
In Scarlet Rebels’ own words
“Diehard fans will know the origins of the song.
“But we’re so glad we re-worked it with Colin Richardson and Chris Clancy to make the song what it is today, on the best album we’ve ever made.
“Whether you’ve been with us from the start or are only discovering us today, we hope you enjoy this uplifting headbangers ball!”
“The song itself is about asking for someone’s trust, for them to open up completely, give you the keys to their heart and let you into their lives.
“The video lays us bear and vulnerable with nowhere to hide in this huge, sweeping landscape, to reflect this request of trust.”
The verdict on Let Me In
Let Me In’s been around for a while but this strident reimagining of a stellar track should be the access point for a new legion of Rebels’ fans.
Built around a sweep of 80s-styled riffage, the fast-paced hard rocker has always been an irresistible earworm.
Reworked and reborn, it’s somehow been transformed into an even jauntier, radio-friendly hard rocker that threatens to eclipse anything fans have experienced before.
Central to this visceral new version is a guitar solo straight from Phil Collen’s Def Leppard songbook: it’s a soaraway highlight ushering in a furious outro.
Then there’s the video.
The desolate Nottinghamshire countryside adds telling context to a familiar narrative — it’s impossible to escape the sense of utter isolation.
Scarlet Rebels are about to release a brand new album and Let Me In is the bullish sound of a band knocking on the door of greatness.
