Shakra backstory
In the early days Shakra battled on as a band out of time — bucking the grunge and nu-metal trend with 1997’s self-titled debut and follow-up Moving Force.
Tours with Great White and Uriah Heep opened up their melodic hard rock to a wider audience before frontman Mark Fox replaced Pete Wiedmar.
2003’s Rising hit the German and Swiss charts and supports with Iron Maiden and Guns N’ Roses reflected Shakra’s burgeoning reputation for delivering a killer live show.
John Prakesh fronted the Back On Track (2011) and Powerplay (2013) albums before Fox returned to the fold.
The critically acclaimed Mad World hit stores just before the Covid pandemic struck but Shakra are back on the road and back releasing new music for the first time in three years.
In Shakra’s own words
“The song is not only a call for reconciliation but also a powerful testimony to the universal experience of love and loss.
“Tell Her That I’m Sorry is a must for all fans of straight rock.
“And it’s for anyone who wants to experience the depths of the human heart and the power of music.”
The verdict on Tell Her That I’m Sorry
Shakra have been trading in polished hard rock for more than 25 years and the band’s latest single puts the power into power ballad.
A reflective anthem for the reconciled, its fusion of arena-ripe commercialism and retro riffage makes for a radio-ready smash.
Lead guitarist Thom Blunier has a blast as he burns through four minutes of red-hot factor 50 fretwork.
And the sparks fly between Shakra’s insanely talented six stringer and the typically assured Fox.
The band’s veteran singer has never sounded better as he floods Tell Her That I’m Sorry with waves of heartfelt emotion.
But with a sound this good there’s really no need to apologise.
