As we draw ever closer to WrestleMania, Rushonrock’s King Of The Ring Andy Spoors continues to focus on the Superstars to watch in 2023. As if he’d miss Carmelo Hayes…
Carmelo Hayes
Carmelo Hayes has long been slated as the next big thing to come out of NXT.
Even during the muddled experiment of NXT 2.0, the praise for Hayes was deafening.
Athletic, explosive and excellent on the mic, Mello is a multiple time champ over for the black and gold brand.
The only title he has held, however, is the North American Championship. So far.
From the moment Hayes stepped up in a valiant, albeit losing, effort to Adam Cole in only his second match, fans have been right behind the 28-year-old.
Winning the 2021 NXT Breakout Tournament, unifying the North American and Cruiserweight Championships and putting on must see matches against the likes of Ricochet, has seen his stock go only one way.
‘The Walking Cheat Code’ looks every bit a future WWE Champion.
But although Hayes has appeared on Main Event, 2023 should be the year he captures the main prize on NXT.
He may not be in the title picture right now, but following a big win at Vengeance Day over Apollo Crews expect that to change as the brand ramps up towards a huge event on Mania weekend in LA.
With current champion Bron Breakker looking stronger than ever, it will take something, or someone special to finally take the title once and for all.
Should he get that opportunity, to paraphrase the man’s own words…Mello won’t miss.
