Kaitlyn Baker backstory

Born and raised in the small town of Pound, VA, Kaitlyn Baker got her big break singing in church.

By the time she was 14, she’d recorded three self-produced albums and her CDs were selling out at packed live performances.

Baker’s debut single Burn charted on Music Row’s Breakout Chart in 2015.

And the red hot track inspired the creation of Kaitlyn Baker’s BURN Sauce!

Follow-up singles Coal Train and To Pieces gained national traction.

And in 2016 her self-penned Heart Of Appalachia was adopted as the official theme song of the Heart of Appalachia Tourism Authority.

In April 2018 Baker released EP Blackbird before being named as one of BuzzFeed’s ‘11 Badass Alternatives to Bro Country’.

And she’s opened for Brad Paisley, Tanya Tucker, Craig Morgan, Brett Eldredge, Travis Tritt, Billy Currington, Chase Bryant, Rhonda Vincent, Jim Lauderdale and many more.

Baker has co-written the majority of her new releases with husband Joe Lasher (who featured in Music Row Magazine after signing a worldwide publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music).

In Kaitlyn Baker’s own words:

“A lot of people can relate to making the mistake of letting someone go or messing things up.

Drinkin’ Hours is an anthem for missing someone and having your feelings come to the surface on another level during drinking hours.”

The verdict on Drinkin’ Hours

Baker cooks up a storm on this achy breaky ode to reflection and self-regret.

Drinkin’ Hours turns back the clock to focus on the one that got away.

And the brilliant Baker tells a familiar story in a uniquely affecting way.

An AC/DC-styled opening riff hints at the rocky undertone driving a powerful anthem.

And the soaring guitar work throughout might surprise those cynics predicting another throwaway slice of cliched country pop.

On this evidence Baker has the potential to give stadium giant Bryan Adams a run for his money.

And that songwriting partnership with hubby Joe is reaping serious rewards.

Don’t wait another minute to drink in Drinkin’ Hours.
