Crazy Lixx – Sound Of The Live Minority (Frontiers)

Genre: Hair Metal

Sweden is blessed with a brotherhood of balls-to-the-wall 80s throwbacks right now but none embrace the sleaze/hair metal mantra with quite so much dedication as Malmo’s life and soul of the party – Crazy Lixx.

Having manoeuvred themselves into a position where they’re big enough – and bold enough – to unleash a live album on the soft rock masses it’s a joy to report that Sound Of The Live Minority captures one of Scandinavia’s finest  bands in breathtaking form.

Recorded at last summer’s Bang Your Head Festival in Germany, Crazy Lixx race through a typically high octane set with highlights Lock Up Your Daughter, Hell Raising Women and Girl Of The 80s proving there’s plenty left in the locker where this explosive quintet is concerned.

Frontman Danny Rexon is at his best on the Leppard-esque ballad Blame It On Love and breezes through his band’s big night with impressive confidence.

Marking the end of one era – Andreas Eriksson played his last Crazy Lixx show here – and the start of the next there’s much to like about Sound Of The Live Minority. The future can’t come soon enough.
