dwld-admatIt’s that time of the year when we turn the spotlight on the bands you simply can’t afford to miss at this year’s typically eclectic 2015 Download Festival.

As usual RUSHONROCK will be on site – come rain or shine – for the full three days bringing you the very best news and reviews from the UK’s biggest and best rock and metal fest.

And to get you in the mood we’ll be pointing you in the direction of the cream of the crop – with American alt-rockers American Fangs next up.

Band: AMERICAN FANGS

When: Friday June 12 18.00-18.25

Where: Jake’s Stage

Who: An ass-kicking, hard-partying quintet from Houston who dipped their toes into UK waters supporting Papa Roach in December 2013 and caused quite a stir – prompting calls for a swift return. Mixing alternative rock with hints of hardcore, theirs is a sound made for festivals and Jake’s Stage will be bouncing come 6pm on Friday. New album Dirty Leg is due to drop early next month.

Why: It’s easy to miss bands like American Fangs at a festival boasting so many of rock and metal’s household names but set aside 25 minutes and you won’t be disappointed. Mental-as-anything drummer Micah Miller is a Newcastle United nut but don’t hold that against him – he also happens to be one of the craziest musos you’ll see at Castle Donington this weekend.

Listen out for: Pomona – with more than 62,000 Vevo views it’s the single that launched American Fangs towards the brink of the big time.

For fans of: Something a little different.

What we said: ‘AF finished off their set in explosive fashion with two songs, including their single Pomona, that perfectly showcased the noise and passion that they always bring to the stage. They performed like true rock and roll heroes with plenty of energy and spirit to ensure that their second time in Newcastle will be even more well received than their first.’ From Newcastle O2 Academy show December 2013.
