The Chinese might have got there first but David Coverdale has declared 2013 ‘The Year Of The Snake’.
With as many as THREE new projects on the boil – and two already confirmed for release later this year – these are busy times for Whitesnake.
But Coverdale is loving every minute as he revels in the band’s new-found freedom and creativity.
With fellow Snake and guitar hero Doug Aldrich finishing work on yet more material from the Forevermore cycle this week it seems there’s no stopping a band set for a slew of big summer shows.
And Coverdale admitted: “It feels as if we’ve only had two months off since the Forevermore tour!
“We’ve been mixing songs from that tour for the new Made In Britain live album so all of that material still feels so fresh and vibrant.
“I’m thinking to myself ‘have we really had a year and a half off’ but we’re not complaining!
“We’re calling this year the ‘Year Of The Snake’ – it is, of course, the Chinese Year of the Snake but it’s also a huge year for this band.
“We’re releasing Made In Japan, Made In Britain and then hoping to cap it all off with Forevermore: The Complete Collection because that whole album/tour cycle really is an incredibly solid project.
“Doug has been finishing some stuff in ‘the cave’ (Coverdale’s home studio at Lake Tahoe) today and we still love the Forevermore material.”
The DVD-driven Made In Japan is released in April with the live album Made In Britain due to follow in July.
In an exclusive interview with RUSHONROCK, Coverdale also revealed plans to release Whitesnake: The World Record featuring live cuts from across the globe to complement Made In Britain.
Earlier this week the band confirmed four shows in Spain with Def Leppard and Europe.
And Whitesnake’s co-headline tour with Journey – featuring special guests Europe – is selling out fast ahead of this summer’s UK arena run.
