david coverdale new webClassic rock royalty Whitesnake will whet the appetite ahead of this summer’s UK arena tour with Journey and Thunder by releasing brand new album Made In Japan later this year.

Frontman David Coverdale has been personally overseeing the project for the past 12 months and the band’s latest live set will be released on April 22.

A month later the ‘Snake hit the road with AOR legends Journey and British blues rockers Thunder for what promises to be the rock event of the summer.

Expect the majority of the tunes that make up Made In Japan‘s sumptuous setlist to get another airing across the UK this summer.

But the 2011 set places the emphasis on latest studio album Forevermore – critically acclaimed as the best Whitesnake record for 20 years.

Made In Japan will be released on DVD, Blu-Ray and a double CD/DVD pack and represents one of Coverdale’s most prized projects to date.

In addition to the concert recording from Loud Park Festival, Made In Japan features a bonus disc containing never-before-heard versions of tracks recorded during soundcheck at a variety of Japanese venues on the tour.

Led by front man and founding member Coverdale, the record features the Whitesnake line-up of Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach on guitar, bassist Michael Devin, drummer Brian Tichy and special-guest keyboardist Brian Ruedy.

The band kicks off its UK tour with Journey and Thunder in Glasgow on May 18.
