Whitesnake have gone back to the future ahead of another busy year of touring by announcing fan favourite Tommy Aldridge will be back behind the kit in 2013.
David Coverdale had been seeking a new stix man following the departure of Brian Tichy.
And few of the ‘Snake faithful will argue against the decision to reinstate Aldridge – who left the band for the second time in 2007 and is synonymous with their most successful commercial period.
Coverdale said: “When I asked all the band members to put together their wish-list of potential drummers for us every one, without exception, had TA at the top of the list.
“Also, most of the fans who communicated their suggestions via the official website wanted Tommy back in the band.
“So, without further ado, we are delighted to welcome him back with us. It seems it is our destiny to work together. This is going to be so much fun.Welcome back, TA!!!”
Aldridge first joined Whitesnake in 1987 with the band at the peak of their chart-busting powers.
And after leaving in 1991 he was back a decade later as a member of the 25th anniversary reunion line-up.
“I can’t express how honored and grateful I am to be back in the ‘Snake fold,” he said.
“Working with DC and Co. has always been a labor of love. I’m SO stoked to be back and finish what we started!!”
A band statement went on: “Whitesnake would like to thank all the amazing musicians who honored us by applying for the position of drummer.
“We were blown away by so much incredible talent and we wish each and every one the very best in their lives and careers.”
Whitesnake return to the UK this summer for an arena tour alongside Journey and Thunder.
