All this week we’re previewing the must-see acts at Download 2012 – from the household names to the future rock and roll heroes.

And talking of household names they don’t come much bigger than Saturday headliner Metallica.

This weekend the band will play the Black album in full – albeit in reverse order.

And we can’t think of a bigger draw as Download celebrates its 10th anniversary in style. Look out for more previews of RUSHONROCK‘s must-see bands all week!

Band: Metallica

Where: Jim Marshall Stage

When: Saturday June 9 (20.45-22.45)

Who: Thrash metal’s elder statesmen

Why Watch Metallica: They never put on a bad show. Saturday’s Rock Am Ring set was absolutely stunning. Expect more of the same with the entire Black album as the centrepiece.

Why Miss Metallica: You’ve laughed so much during the comedy double bill that is Steel Panther and Tenacious D that you’ve ruptured your spleen and been rushed to A&E. Otherwise there is no other reason on the planet.

Must hear: Blackened from 1988’s …And Justice For All. It’s a classic and, ironically, should follow straight after the conclusion of the Black album set. If we’re lucky.

Overrated: The God That Failed. It’s the weakest track on the Black album. But still bloody good by any other band’s standards.
