Boasting harmonies borrowed from classic Queen, choruses bussed in from the nearest Beatles camp, riffs that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Thin Lizzy record and a Rolling Stones-esque swagger, we’ve just chanced upon your new favourite classic rock heroes.

Zeus, hailing from Toronto, manage to combine all of the above to spine-tingling effect and 2012 album, Busting Visions, is an absolute blinder.

The best news for British fans is that the retro four-piece land in the UK at the weekend to bring sunshine into the lives of fans blighted by the spring monsoon.

And we’ve not been this excited about a new band since Vintage Trouble crossed the RUSHONROCK radar this time last year.

Shimmering tunes like Are You Gonna Waste My Time, Bright Brown Opus and Strong Mind belong to summer festival stages and late evening sunlight – so let’s hope the weather changes and these boys hurry back soon.

Rest assured we’ll be bringing you a lot more Zeus news right here very soon. Until then check them out at the following venues starting Saturday:

01 May  The Cluny 2  Newcastle

02 May  Louisiana  Bristol

03 May  Bush Hall  London

04 May  Jericho Tavern  Oxford
