DVDs OF THE YEAR 2011

1 RUSHTIME MACHINE 2011: LIVE IN CLEVELAND

Those who witnessed the Time Machine tour won’t need any reminding that what they saw was a piece of progressive rock history.

Finally emerging from the shadows of cult obscurity and into the mainstream, Rush’s long ascendancy has been worth the wait and this show was the perfect follow-up to the fantastic Beyond The Lighted Stage documentary.

With Time Machine Peart, Lee and Lifeson owned the stage the world over and this stunning concert is the lasting legacy to live performance every Rush fan has to own. Renowned for making a number of fine live albums, this DVD (even better on Blu-Ray…) catapults the trio to the top of the audio-visual tree.

Split into two sets, the second of which showcased the entire Moving Pictures album, the concert footage is a tour de force. And while the Rush community might bemoan the lack of bonus material the ‘Real’ History Of Rush episodes subtly boost the band’s brilliant performance.

Even if you’re no big Rush fan it’s obvious that this isn’t simply their Time Machine – this is their time.
