As band leaders go Duke Ellington and Jimmy Page are up there with the very best – but imagine the sound created by an act citing both legendary performers as their key influences.

That act is King Mob and with their eagerly anticipated debut due to drop on Monday the familiar quintet has been added to the bill of the 2011 Carlisle Blues Festival!

In an age of ageing supergroups King Mob could be viewed as a bandwagon-jumping cash cow for its four most famous faces and their fast-rising hired hand on guitar.

But one listen to debut Force 9 and it’s clear that this lot are far more than a ‘get-rich-quick’ fad. Featuring guitar legend Chris Spedding (Roxy Music, Elton John, John Cale, Paul McCartney), Glen Matlock – bass (Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop, Faces), Martin Chambers – drums (Pretenders), Stephen W Parsons aka Snips – vocals (film composer and vocalist of cult 70’s band Sharks) and introducing hot new guitar talent Sixteen there’s an understandable buzz surrounding this new rock n soul combo.

The band’s debut, produced by SWP, will be released on 11 track CD and seven track 180g vinyl with gatefold sleeve plus bonus three track CD included. It took just four days to record and looks set to become an instantly collectible retro modern classic.

King Mob have just been added as Special Guests to the bill of The Carlisle Blues Festival 2011 (Nov 11-13). And they will join such luminaries as Earl Thomas with Paddy Milner and The Big Sounds, Eugene Hideaway Bridges, King King and Greg Wright. Full details on the festival are available on www.carlislebluesfestival.com.

Live dates are currently being set up to promote the album across Europe next year with shows across 2012 in  Japan, Australia and South America. In addition to Carlisle Blues Festival, King Mob will headline the following UK show:
