Hot on the heels of their triumphant return at High Voltage the recently ‘retired’ Thunder have announced another one-off show to keep the band’s legacy alive.

Nottingham Rock City will host a Christmas Special on December 21 featuring a set of acoustic and full electric songs plus special guest appearances and a whole heap of blues rock-fuelled fun.

And there’s more. Thunder main man Danny Bowes and guitarist Ben Matthews will team up in January for eight acoustic shows – kicking off in Gateshead on January 5!

Bowes said: “Ben and I visited a secondary school a little while ago to give a talk to a load of 15-year-old music students.

“Having agreed to do it, we were a bit apprehensive, and thought it might be a bit dull for them, having two old gits spouting on about the music business and touring etc.. But we were wrong – they loved it. That started us thinking – always dangerous – and the next thing we were doing some shows. Lord help us all….”

Matthews added: “I’ve always enjoyed doing interviews with Danny. I didn’t get the opportunity that often but when we did it was always a lot of fun – that’s when I could get a word in edgeways!

“We seem to have the knack of making each other laugh, so we thought it would be a great idea to see if we could do the same in front of an audience. If all else fails we’ll play them a song or two and do a runner…”
