Amon Amarth frontman Johan Hegg is licking his lips in anticipation at the UK leg of next month’s European tour – after insisting Britain is the only place he can get a good beer!

The Swedish mob release groundbreaking opus Surtur Rising on Monday and it’s little wonder Hegg and his Viking mates are riding high on confidence right now.

The new album is a slice of pure metal fury and he said: “We can’t wait to play the new songs in the UK.

“It’s going to be such a great tour. We’ve toured with Children Of Bodom before and we really like those guys. It’s going to be a lot of fun.

“We always love coming across to the UK. At least you can get a great pint of beer over there!

“It’s classic metal ground. It’s always been a pleasure for us to play for fans who have lived metal for years. And whenever we’re there we head straight to the nearest pub for some real ale.

“It’s a good opportunity for us to play with COB. We’ve been steadily building a fan base in the UK but we needed a high profile support slot to make our presence felt and take that next step.

“Touring with COB is a great move for us. And when you look at the bands on the bill it’s a great value night of metal. Come and join us.”
