Former Bad Company frontman Brian Howe knows all about quality pop rock and who better to big up during Hair Metal Week on rushonrock?

At the Company helm for eight years during hair metal’s golden age, the accomplished vocalist might lack Paul Rodgers’ classic blues rock tones.

But Howe’s fine work on Dangerous Age and Holy Water was perfect for the time with Bad Company delivering a series of made-for-MTV promo videos. With new solo record Circus Bar it seems he’s rediscovered that late 80s/early 90s swagger and we’ve already heard two tracks from the March 1 release.

I’m Back and Surrounded are two tunes which would have guaranteed Howe a brace of hits two decades ago.

Even in 2010 they deserve serious recognition and we’ll be reviewing Circus Bar in full at the end of next month.
