It’s AC/DC week on rushonrock and we’re delving deep into our vacuous vinyl vault to pull out some often ignored classics. Hands up who owns Are You Ready, from 1990s The Razor’s Edge, on 12″ gatefold? Yeah, we thought as much. But it’s a belter…

Open up the shaved head-adorned gatefold sleeve and you get a cracking preview of AC/DC’s Donington ’91 set with live pics, full line-up lists from previous festivals and plenty of wise words explaining why it isn’t a show without BJ and the boys. But it’s not all about the packaging – what about the music?

Well, Are You Ready is a typical AC/DC romp from an album which never really gets the credit it deserves. This is the best of three or four cracking tunes on that record and yet both the album and the singles it spawned were widely overlooked on release – at least here in the UK.

But we’ve always treasured our limited edition disc – number 00325 – and the fact that it’s backed by the atrocious Got You By The Balls is tempered by the inclusion of The Razor’s Edge as a terrific track number three. This is AC/DC at their party animal best.
