The prolific songwriter will embark on yet another UK tour next month as the creative brains behind one of Britain’s best ever blues rock acts.
And with November’s Thunder tour proving more popular than the last Morley truly believes fans are seeking an escape route from real life in the crazy world of rock.
“I’m touching wood when I say this but I really believe rock is recession proof,” he told rushonrock on the day AC/DC broke box office records for shifting gig tickets in this country. “Judging by the demand for our own shows people are still spending money to watch live music and that’s great.
“During difficult times you can’t beat the feelgood factor generated by a great live show. When we started out in the late 1980s there were still a lot of people struggling financialy and a lot of people with negative equity. Yet the rock scene was booming.
“When the economy is struggling I think it’s only natural that people look for something to lift them and rock concerts do that. People like to go out, let their hair down and have a few beers and if, as a band, you’re doing it right then this isn’t a bad time to be playing live music.”
But just in case you have blown your last £21 on Thunder’s November 26 gig at Newcastle City Hall there’s a chance to download a song from the band’s new album, Bang!, for free! Yes, in a credit crunch-busting move Luke, Danny and the boys would love you to snap up Carol Ann for nowt by gloing to Thunder’s official website and following the links.
