Sleazy Money backstory
If you’ve never been to ‘the gritty streets of Merthyr Tydfil’ then here’s a word of warning: it’s said that bands like Sleazy Money lurk around every corner.
Or so the hype would have us believe.
It seems the Welsh town is some kind of underground Sunset Strip and Sleazy Money are Merthyr’s answer to Ratt, Crüe and Guns N Roses.
Formed in 2024, Connor Palmer and his spandex-clad crew are going all out to recreate glam metal’s glory days.
And the band’s already building a reputation for the kind of wild live shows captured in the brilliantly bonkers budget video for It Ain’t EZ.
Is South Wales really the new West Hollywood?
Sleazy Money are banking on it.
In frontman Connor Palmer’s own words
“We wanted to capture what it was like to spend a night with us when we’re on one.
“Filming was totally wild.
“We packed out Koolers Nightclub in Merthyr and just got down.
“People were loaded at like 11am on a Sunday morning!”
The verdict on It Ain’t EZ
Mötley Crüe meets Motörhead as the raucous intro to It Ain’t EZ kicks into gear.
And the sheer energy underpinning this party-starting anthem compensates for the glaring lack of originality.
But those of us long since smitten by sleaze aren’t bothered by cocksure Faster Pussycat clones aping the genre’s giants of the past.
We love to see it.
In fact, Sleazy Money’s ability to pack a decade’s worth of late 80s tropes into less than five minutes should be lauded.
Connor Palmer and his glam metal gang are platinum-plated entertainers — and don’t they know it.
It Ain’t EZ sounds like Love/Hate and Tigertailz toughing it out for an audience with Tommy Vance. Cliches can be cool.
Sleazy Money have tapped into a rich vein of retro goodness.
It Ain’t EZ to sound this good.
What’s next for Sleazy Money
