Here We Are Again

Black Water County

Black Water County backstory

Hailing from south west England, Black Water County are celebrating a decade making music together.

The band have shared stages with legendary acts such as Less Than Jake, Flogging Molly, The Bronx and The Skints.

And their prestigious UK festival appearances have included WOMAD, Boomtown Fair, Beautiful Days, Belladrum, Black Deer, Camp Bestival, Larmer Tree and Teddy Rocks.

Black Water County continue to take their punk-fuelled folk rock on the road — making hundreds of appearances in Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, The Netherlands and France.

In 2017 they independently released debut album Taking Chances and embarked on their first UK tour.

Black Water County’s second album, Comedies And Tragedies, was released in March 2020 before the global pandemic stopped the band in its tracks.

Here We Are Again is the third single culled from forthcoming long player The Only Life Worth Living.

In Black Water County’s own words

Here We Are Again follows the story of a break up where the broken heartstrings are buried and the ties are being cut.

“It’s a cynical goodbye to the person who knew you the most but is now a stranger in your life.

“How you can both convey a pessimistic sense of resignation and acceptance yet still wish you could understand each other’s perspective better?

“The vocal conversation strives to capture the complex emotions and conflicts that can arise in relationships and the difficulty of breaking free from patterns of behaviour.

“The melodies intertwine and build into an emotional intensification that combines fluttering whistle and delicate mandolin.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we hope everyone can recognise something in this story.

“Please forgive us and know that it’s all just part of the only life worth living.”

The verdict on Here We Are Again

Fusing the band’s trademark folk, rock, punk and ska, this anti-love song represents a rollercoaster of emotions wrapped up in soaring melodies.

Canny pacing creates a series of steepling highs and crashing lows, as lead vocalists Shan Byrom and Tim Harris go head to head behind the mic.

And acoustic folk gives way to furious punk rock as Black Water County provide the perfect soundtrack to an angst-ridden narrative.

Paired with the retro-fuelled, rainy-day, festival-set video, Here We Are Again is a familiar tale of special friends falling out and facing the truth.

It’s another cracking example of Black Water County’s talent for tackling stark reality with a spring in their step.

Here We Are Again is reassuringly familiar territory for a band busting a gut to break free from the norm.

What’s next for Black Water County
