The Seven Sisters back story

Londoners Seven Sisters have been championing classic metal in the UK since 2013 – and have rewarded their loyal fanbase with a slew of exceptional albums, which draw on the power and grandeur of the NWOBHM movement… and stand up against anything the likes of Visigoth, Haunt and Night Demon have conjured up stateside.

Shadow Of A Fallen Star is taken from their forthcoming third album, Shadow Of A Fallen Star pt.1 – the follow-up to 2018’s critically acclaimed opus, The Cauldron And The Cross.

And Shadow Of A Fallen Star pt.1 is the first Seven Sisters record to feature new bassist Gaz Martin and drummer Sam Christou.

In Seven Sisters’ own words

“I had this phrase – shadow of a fallen star – in my head that fit the ending of what became the chorus,” says vocalist/guitarist, Kyle McNeill.

“I liked the atmosphere it conjured and ultimately it shaped the rest of the album.

“Both the grandiose scale of the album’s setting, thematically, but also the more solemn and isolated nature of what we’ve all experienced in this weird time in history.”

The verdict on Shadow Of A Fallen Star

A majestic epic in four minutes? That’s pretty much the story with Shadow Of A Fallen Star, a song inspired as much by Queensrÿche (and Queen) as Iron Maiden.

With slick twin leads and a sense of flamboyance, in many ways the song is trademark ‘Sisters.

But the band have clearly progressed even further since The Cauldron And The Cross was released.

And the sheer ambition and dazzling musicianship shown on Shadow Of A Fallen Star is breathtaking.

It’s a stellar performance all round, from an act clearly set on making up for lost time.
