Hewn from Melbourne’s eclectic rock scene and now spread across the world, Massive means business.

Fast approaching their 10th anniversary, the Brad Marr-fronted rabble rousers are a force of nature live.

And a powerful back catalogue reveals a retro-styled songwriting craft built on steepling riffs and killer choruses.

Full Throttle (2013), Destination Somewhere (2016) and Rebuild Destroy (2019) represent a flawless body of work.

But it’s on stage and off message that Massive’s raging authenticity reaches parts other bands simply can’t reach.

New single Rise was recorded in multiple studios on opposite sides of the world and produced back home in Australia with Ricki Rae. 

The song features on trailblazing double CD compilation New Wave Of Classic Rock: Volume One — out now.

And it suggests the best is yet to come from one of the most exciting guitar bands on the planet.

“Rise is a song full of built up energy. 

“We’re exploding to get back on a stage, turn up our amps and smash this out at full speed.

“We want nothing more than to drink beers and smash ears.”

The verdict on Rise

The race is on to soundtrack the post-pandemic rush for rock and roll freedom.

And it’s time to pin the gold medal on Massive.

Rise is everything everyone needs after months curtailed by Covid.

It’s raucous, wild and screaming optimism.

And the first-pumping animated video is very much of our time.

Massive make rock and roll for the masses.

Their festival-ready anthems are radio-friendly and a whole lotta fun.

And frontman Brad Marr is a wrecking ball of eye-catching energy.

Rise maintains an unstoppable tilt at the top for a band that should be so much bigger.

Massive by name. Nearly there by nature.

But Rise is a timely reminder of the Melbourne band’s huge potential and enduring class.

What’s next for Massive?

Brad and the boys will be back on the road this October/November touring with the Quireboys.
