Country/blues contender Laura Evans turns to ‘rock and soul’ on the brand new video for latest single Drag Me Back In.
And one of the hottest tracks we’ve heard all year looks set to soundtrack a summer of lockdown creativity.
Wales-based Evans shot the powerful video on the country lanes of her home nation before firing the footage across to LA-based editor Stevie Teran.
The result is a stark yet evocative portrayal of one of the most exciting new talents on the UK scene.
“It’s definitely the rockiest song on the Running Back To You EP,” said Evans.
“I’d like to think rocky AND soulful. When we started writing it, Nicolas [Gruter, producer] played everything on electric guitar in the session.
“I guess that pushed us in a rockier direction but I’m glad he did!”
Running Back To You is released on July 31 and Drag Me Back In serves as a tantalising taster for Evans’ long-awaited EP.
“I shot the video in my hometown in Wales,” she added.
“It was filmed around deserted roads and country lanes.
“The song has an edgy and strong lyric so it was important that we created and showed the strong, independent side of a woman alone, paving her own way.
“But there’s also the more vulnerable side.
“We filmed over two days and made sure we had enough footage – which was quite challenging during lockdown.
“But I was really happy with everything we’d captured.
“Then I shared my ideas with my creative editor friend and Stevie worked his magic putting it all together.”
