Silverstein have released the music video for their new single Madness, taken from upcoming album A Beautiful Place To Drown.
Their ninth album will come out on the 6th March as the band celebrate their 20 year anniversary, while Madness shows the group experiment with new things as rapper Princess Nokia makes an appearance on the track.
The collaboration was a dream come true, of sorts, for Princess Nokia – who has been a fan of Silverstein for a long time. And when the post-hardcore legends found out, there was only one thing they could do.
“Madness was one of the early songs we had musically and it kept evolving until we knew it needed a strong female voice on it to put it over the top,” explained Silverstein vocalist Shane Todd. “The first person we thought of was Princess Nokia.”
While Princess Nokia added: “Working on this record was really special to me because I’ve been a fan of this band since I discovered their first two albums.
“Being asked to be a feature in this album was nothing short of amazing. I appreciate the guys for the opportunity and for wanting to include me in this era of their work.”
Silverstein might have a strong legacy within the emo/post hardcore scene but that’s never stopped them from working with anyone who might expand their game or teach them new tricks. That’s why they’ve featured the likes of Aaron Gillespie from Underoath, Caleb Shomo from Beartooth and Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan.
They’re 20 years old and still going strong. With a huge US, UK and EU tour coming up and the release of A Beautiful Place To Drown they have shown that they still have some life in them yet.
Silverstein are putting on a show for the ages as they have decided to smash through three sets in one show. They will play their 2005 album Discovering The Waterfront, an acoustic session and then an array of their best hits after that.
