Hell In A Cell 2019 Preview – Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, California

After a week of huge wrestling action, spanning Monday Night Raw to the brand new Friday night Smackdown, NXT and AEW in between, fans could be forgiven for feeling a little over indulged.

The grand finale of WWE’s premiere week, sees the Hell In A Cell PPV on the WWE Network cap proceedings off nicely. The only problem? We only have four matches officially announced just hours away from the show.

This isn’t an issue, by any means, but in an age where fans demand storylines and build ups, WWE may have missed the brief. The company does, however, have a stellar record of pulling out great PPVs when their backs are against the wall.  The other positives are the four matches that have been announced have all been built up over the last few weeks and beyond.

We have written in length about our expectations of The Fiend and this is the time to deliver once again. One of two matches taking place inside Hell In A Cell itself sees Seth Rollins defend the Universal Championship against Bray Wyatt’s Fiend. With a DQ finish stipulated as a finish, don’t be surprised to see some shenanigans at the death.

After a summer ‘whodunnit’ mystery, as Roman Reigns was inexplicably attacked on a number of occasions, Reigns teams up with Daniel Bryan to take on the latter’s former friend Rowan and Luke Harper. It’s been a slightly confused way of getting here, but this should signal the end of a protracted story.

Two women’s matches complete the announced cards: a rematch for the Smackdown Women’s Championship between champ Bayley and Charlotte and the other Hell In A Cell match between Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks. After a lively and quite brutal match last time out, the pair will be locked inside the cell with one woman left standing as well as the Raw Women’s Champion. Only the second women’s Hell In A Cell match in history, this could deliver some big moments.

With no other matches to speculate on, it will be a fun change if pace to see how the night unfolds. Stay tuned to WWE social media for the inevitable updates in the coming hours.
