Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale has admitted she’s hooked on wrestling less than a year after stunning NXT fans with a fret-burning version of Free The Flame – Ember Moon’s entrance theme.
The relationship between rock and wrestling has never been stronger as a slew of WWE stars choose riff-laden anthems to make their presence felt.
Moon is no different and her collaboration with Hale wowed the New Orleans crowd last April.
“I’m still very new to the world of wrestling and the day that I got to play on NXT with Ember Moon was incredible,” said Hale.
“Just a week before that I went to my first Smackdown and I like fell in love with it.
“I have a lot of friends in wrestling. I’ve known Baron Corbin for years and years – since before he was even in the industry – so he kind of brought me in and we got to do the song with Ember.
“Up to that point I just didn’t realise how many fans of ours are die hard wrestling fans so it was a really neat thing.”
Hale returns to the UK in November for a full headline tour. Prior to the band’s biggest British dates yet Halestorm returns to Download – the annual home for a special round of NXT action.
“Now I’m kinda of hooked because not only is it an incredible sport – I don’t know how they do things to their bodies – but it’s just pure entertainment,” added Hale.
“It reminds me so much of some of the things that I love about like Alice Cooper – this kind of vaudeville, soap opera situation that I’m just so in love with. I feel like I’m still super new to wrestling but I’d like to thank everyone at the WWE for welcoming me in.”
Hale has always had one eye on taking her music to a brand new audience and WWE provides that opportunity.
“It was quite the honour to do NXT and getting to talk to Triple H was amazing,” she added. “NXT is his baby and – not to downplay his bad ass reputation – but he is such a sweetheart.
“He really wanted to give me the best chance to show an audience what I can really do. to “The fact that I was able to jam out right next to Ember and we got to do our thing was just brilliant.”
Halestorm follow up this summer’s Download show with arena dates across the UK this autumn. The band kicks off at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on November 24 before gigs in Nottingham, Cardiff and London.
