Nine Miles South – Nine Miles South EP (Self Released)
Fans of Black Stone Cherry, The Cadillac Three and Rival Sons take note: this is the British blues rock band with a Scando twist you’ve been waiting for.
Fronted by the charismatic Sebastian Mikkelsen, groove masters Nine Miles South are a heady mix of country rock and heavy blues – it’s a combination that quickens the pulse and promises so much.
The band’s decision to unleash three of the best as a prelude to their eagerly anticipated debut works a treat. Good things come in small packages and this perfectly formed EP offers a tiny glimpse of potential greatness.
There’s enough fine music here – including rousing opener The Reckoning – to suggest an exciting future for the Guildford quartet. Nine Miles South are in no rush to reveal their full hand just yet but when they do expect a record of distinction. Simon Rushworth
