Being As An Ocean – Being As An Ocean (InVogue Records)

Genre: Melodic Hardcore

Combining a potent mixture of soaring, melodic choruses, Letlive styled aggressive music and the spoken word, Being As An Ocean’s self titled LP is sure to win over hearts and minds.

One of the most interesting themes running through this album, and one that sets them apart from the pack, is the use of a running narrative. It starts straight away in Little Richie and carries on through nine other songs.

BAAO are a band who tour relentlessly in support of their work – they have been on the road for 11 out of the previous 12 months playing favourites from their previous two albums, Dear G-D and How We Wondrously Perish.

Their self-titled third record is likely to prove a hit with the faithful that have packed the stalls to see them during the Vans Warped Tour, which runs until August 8.

Judas, Our Brother is a something that you would really expect from a band like Being As An Ocean – it’s all fire and fury, but with closing songs Sins Of The Father and …And Their Consequence they show a worldly conscious and darkly poetic prose. Russell Hughes
