DiMino – Old Habits Die Hard (Frontiers)

Genre: Hard Rock

As far as rock’s mainstream is concerned, former Angel frontman Frank DiMino has been away far too long.

Occasionally reviving a version of his most famous project with Barry Brandt, to play Europe’s biggest festivals, his powerful pipes have primarily been employed inspiring the next generation in recent years.

But the teacher clearly feels its time to show his pupils exactly how it’s done. And this aptly titled throwback to a bygone age is a lesson in uncomplicated yet uncompromising US hard rock.

Rockin’ In The City, Tears Will Fall and Sweet Sensation instantly hit the mark – comfortably proving the old adage that while form may be temporary, class is permanent.

And the list of collaborators reads like a Who’s Who of hard rock with Oz Fox (Stryper), Eddie Ojeda (Twisted Sister), Rickey Medlocke (Blackfoot, Lynyrd Skynyrd), Jeff Labansky, and former Angel bandmates  Punky Meadows (guitar) and Brandt all adding to the creative mix.

Old Habits Die Hard doesn’t reinvent the wheel but roll with it and you’ll reap the rewards. Simon Rushworth
