Band: SLASH FEAT. MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS

When: Sunday June 14 17.20-18.20

Where: Main Stage

Who: Are you joking? Just the biggest guitar hero on the planet and a super cool dude for good measure. The master of reinvention, Slash has moved seamlessly through the decades with Guns N Roses, his Snakepit, Velvet Revolver and the Conspirators. Still churning out the best riffs money can buy and set to follow up his Download set with a new live release on Monday, there’s never been a better time to enjoy one of rock’s finest talents.

Why: Because this rich vein of form can’t last forever. Slash’s partnership with Kennedy has reaped stunning rewards – three albums in and the duo are one of the biggest draws on the planet. One of the standout bands at last week’s Sweden Rock festival, the Conspirators are tearing it up every night. A must-see.

Listen out for: Anastasia – a trademark intro. and solo prove Slash remains peerless.

For fans of: Guns N Roses, Velvet Revolver, Alter Bridge

What we said: ‘It’s unlikely anything Slash records under his own name will ever eclipse the impact and reach of songs like Nightrain, Sweet Child O’ Mine and Paradise City but in You’re A Lie and Anastasia (featuring the last decade’s most definitive rock riff) the post-GNR generation has fret-fuelled treasures they can call their own. On Anastasia, in particular, Stoke’s most famous guitar hero married glorious dexterity with an expression of grizzled determination. Working harder and faster than ever, it seems Slash is in no mood to rest on his laurels and let the royalties roll in.’ From 2015 Sweden Rock show.
