Record collectors everywhere are readying themselves for the biggest event on the vinyl addicts’ calendar with just three weeks to go until sales of seven inchers and 12 inchers reach their annual peak.
Record Store Day 2012 takes place on Saturday April 21. And as usual there’s plenty of prized rock and metal scalps for those early birds willing to queue around the block to support their local independent record store.
Must-have releases this year include a live version of Ozzy Osbourne’s Believer on black and white polka dot seven inch vinyl to honour the memory of Randy Rhoads. And if that’s not enough to tickle your fancy then how about the vinyl debut of Metallica’s Beyond Magnetic on 12 inch vinyl?
We’ll be going all out to bag a copy of Rainbow’s Long Live Rock N Roll on 12 inch picture disc and Deep Purple’s Smoke On The Water gets a welcome reissue on seven inch vinyl. Marilyn Manson marks his return to metal’s forefront with a white vinyl version of No Reflection and Mastodon pop up on a couple of split 45s with Feist and The Flaming Lips.
Slash precedes the release of his new solo record with the seven inch release of new tune You’re Alive and Arcade Fire get in on the act with a 12 inch remix of Sprawl ii.
