Jack Bruce has offered UK fans the tantalising prospect of a one-off performance with old mucker Joe Bonamassa later this year – with both men touring the nation this spring.

Eagle-eyed fans of the blues rock legends will have noted that the ex-Cream man and the Black Country Communion guitar hero are covering the length and breadth of Britain at the same time next month.

A closer inspection of their respective schedules shows their paths never actually cross before Bruce wraps up his Big Blues Band tour on March 31 in Newcastle.

But Bonamassa has one show still to play on April 4 – in Glasgow – and it seems fans north of the border could be in for a treat after last year’s Royal Festival Hall collaboration.

“It’s purely a coincidence that we’re both on the road in March,” said Bruce. “But who knows? Maybe we’ll run into each other.

“But anyone who’s thinking of choosing between the two then pick my band! There’s no contest.

“Seriously, though, I love Joe. I like the fact that he’s brought back some of that old British blues sound into his music.

“He stepped into the breach at the London Guitar Festival last year when my good friend Gary Moore passed away and he did a fantastic job.”

Should Bonamassa require a warm up gig before his opening arena show in Sheffield on March 24 then Bruce has gigs in Cambridge, Bath and Cardiff that week.

But don’t be surprised if the two team up again in Bruce’s home country as Bonamassa wraps up his tour at the Royal Concert Hall. Watch this space!
