Our man Calum Robson will be bringing rushonrock readers exclusive coverage of this year’s Sonisphere Festival from the very heart of Knebworth…
…but before he does he’s been profiling the Big Four ahead of Friday’s historic main stage shindig.
And today Dave Mustaine’s Megadeth are under scrutiny – with a look at the biggest of them all, Metallica, tomorrow!
BAND: MEGADETH
WHEN: Friday 8th July (5:15PM)
WHERE: Apollo Stage
YOU KNOW THEM BECAUSE: Of their technical edge, warlike imagery and lyrical and musical driving force Dave Mustaine.
GUARANTEED THRILL: Holy Wars…The Punishment Due – a bastion of heavy metal inspired by the infamous riot Mustaine was said to have caused in Ireland when he made a brief speech on Irish independence. The song was written at Nottingham’s Rock City venue!
TOILET BREAK: Seven, from the dissapointing Risk record (1999).
LOOK OUT FOR: A Mustaine speech in the heat of the Big Four competition regarding some of his former band mates? Expect a solid performance at least.
ESSENTIAL ALBUM: Rust In Peace
OUT NOW: Endgame (2009)
LIKE MEGADETH? YOU MAY ENJOY: The other obvious lot, Diamond Head and who knows, if you’re a fan of Mustaine’s Anarchy In The UK tune, then you may well enjoy some Bad Religion (3:00PM, Saturday).
RUSHONROCK THRASHTASTIC RATING: 9/10
