Our man Calum Robson is gearing up for an assault on Knebworth this week but before he packs his wellies and leather there’s the small matter of bigging up the Big Four.

And after yesterday’s introduction to Slayer it’s the turn of genre-defying noise merchants Anthrax.

Look out for Megadeth tomorrow and Metallica on Thursday – by which time Calum will be well on  his way to thrash heaven…

BAND: ANTHRAX

WHEN: Friday 8th July (4.00PM)

WHERE: Apollo Stage

YOU KNOW THEM BECAUSE: They are another enduring force of the thrash movement – the first of the main thrash bands to sign to a major label in 1985, when they inked a deal with Island.

GUARANTEED THRILL: Indians – a classic still today.

TOILET BREAK: Who Cares Wins – a terribly one-dimensional, boring chorus that increasingly grates, from the State Of Euphoria album (1988).

LOOK OUT FOR: Scott Ian’s long-serving mastery at the riffing helm, some new songs from upcoming record Worship Music and the return of Joey Belladonna as lead vocalist – the oldest member of any of the big four at age 50!  Let’s hope he can still hit those screeching high points!

ESSENTIAL ALBUM: Among the Living

OUT NOW: We’ve Come For You All.

LIKE ANTHRAX?  YOU MAY ENJOY: Obviously the other thrashers apply with Sylosis and of course who could forget heavy metal veterans Diamond Head – who will take to the Apollo Stage just 45-minutes before the NY thrashers show Soni what they got.

RUSHONROCK THRASHTASTIC RATING: 7/10
