With a brand new Best Of (pictured) out now and this month’s High Voltage Festival appearance on the horizon there’s never been a better time to rediscover the joy of Uriah Heep.

And we’re just loving dipping into the band’s brilliant back catalogue on these balmy summer days.

We’ll be bringing you a full and exclusive interview with Heep’s main man Mick Box very soon but for now take a look at what makes him tick in the latest rushonrock Rider.

On your iPod: There’s the new Jeff Beck album and I’ve just been on the road with Deep Purple and Wishbone Ash so they’re both on there. And there’s Joe Bonamassa.

Small Screen Pleasure: I record a lot of music on my Sky box. I tend to stockpile a load of stuff from Sky Arts and then sit down one night with a glass or two of wine and work my way through it at a steady pace.

Making A Meal Of It: It’s got to be roast lamb with Yorkshire pudding.

Drivetime: I’ve got an old Holden Barina – it’s a car I bought in Australia nearly 12 years ago when I was living in Sydney for a while. I brought it back to England and it’s been great.

Ace Place: Australia is fantastic and India has a special place in my heart – it’s a very spiritual country. I love South Africa and Cape Town is beautiful.

Dream Destination: Egypt and China are the two places I really want to go.

Nickname Shame: Occasionally I was called Boxy as a kid. Original, don’t you agree?
