Only last month Duff McKagan told rushonrock that the debut solo material recorded by former Guns N Roses colleague and Velvet Revolver band mate Slash as some of the best shit he’s heard in ages. And that’s just on the evidence of the first three tracks!

But it seems the major rock labels have been falling over themselves to secure the rights to what promises to be one of 2010’s must-have albums and those veteran campaigners Roadrunner have finally sealed the deal.

Interestingly the Spring 2010 release will be avialable first in the UK as part of a special package with Classic Rock magazine – the renowned publication producing a Slash special featuring the axe hero’s solo debut. Slash remains one of the most iconic musicians of all time. His songwriting, talent and showmanship with acts including Guns N Roses, Slash’s Snakepit, Velvet Revolver has always hit the mark and a host of collaborations and guest appearances has inspired and entertained millions worldwide.

Since exploding onto the music scene in 1987 with Guns N’ Roses’ Appetite For Destruction, still the fastest selling debut album of all time, Slash has become one of the best loved and most critically acclaimed guitarists of his generation. Time Magazine, as recently as August 2009, named Slash as number two on their list of the 10 Best Electric Guitar Players of All Time.

Slash’s debut solo album will see him collaborating with some of the world’s most vital contemporary artists – from the rock world and beyond – with McKagan and Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl already featuring on early demos.

Slash will see Roadrunner Records enter into a unique and innovative association with the special-interest media group Future. In a brand new concept in record distribution, the standard album release will be preceded by a ‘fan pack’, in which the album will be bundled together with a highly-collectable special issue of Future Publishing’s Classic Rock Magazine dedicated to Slash’s career. This will be the first format of the album available anywhere in the world.

Stay posted to rushonrock for all the latest Slash news in the coming weeks and months.
